Comitato italiano per gli Anniversari: To organize all anniversary activities in Italy a committee under the direction of Prof. Dr. Fabrizio Cambi (Università degli Studi di Trento) was formed on April 14th 2015, that meets on a regular basis. Florence: The exhibition „Il padre dell'archeologia in Toscana. Winckelmann, Firenze e gli Etruschi“ was on display at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Via della Colonna, from May 26th 2016 to January 30th 2017. An exhibition catalogue in Italian was published by Edizioni ETS Pisa. A conference on the same subject as the exhibition was held at Università degli Studi di Firenze from January 26th to 27th 2017. Further activities and lectures are scheduled.

Naples: In cooperation with Università L’Orientale and the Museo Archaeologico Nazionale a congress on “Winckelmann and the Archaeology in Naples” is scheduled for March 1st 2017 and will take place at Universität L’Orientale. After the opening by Prof. Elda Morlicchio, vice chancellor of the university, there will be lectures as follows:

Additionally there will be lectures by Carlo Gasparri and Paola D’Alconzo (both Università degli Studi di Napoli-Federico II).

A lecture will be held on May 15th 2017 at Università degli Studi di Napoli-Federico II. The subject is “The ‘Nachlass” of Winckelmann in the reception of antiquity in the late 18th and 19th century”. The lecture is curated by Ulrike Böhmel Fichera and Federico Rausa.

Naples / Chiasso: Stefano Ferrari and Nicoletta Ossanna Cavadini are preparing an exhibition on “The copper plates for etchings of Winckelmann's Monumenti antichi inediti: the publishing and artistic history of an illustrated publication (1767-1834)”. Exhibition places will be: Chiasso (Switzerland), Museo m.a.x. (05.02.-07.05.2017) - Naples, Museo Archeologico Nazionale (24.06.-25.09.2017).

Trieste: In preparation of several Winckelmann activities that are planned by city and university for 2018 there was an international workshop on November 25th 2016 at the Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici on “Winckelmann and the 21st century”, organized by Maria Carolina Foi. Participants were Maria Carolina Foi (Università Trieste), Elena Agazzi (Università Bergamo), Eva Kocziszky (University of Pannonia at Veszprém), Federica La Manna (Università della Calabria), Gabriella Catalano (Università Tor Vergata), Elisabeth Décultot (ENS, Paris; Universität Halle) and Fabrizio Cambi (Università Trento).

Stefano Ferrari and Nicoletta Ossanna Cavadini are preparing an exhibition on “The copper plates for etchings of Winckelmann's Monumenti antichi inediti: the publishing and artistic history of an illustrated publication (1767-1834)”. Exhibition places will be: Chiasso (Schweiz), Museo m.a.x. (Spring 2017) - Copenhagen, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (Summer 2017) - Naples, Museo Archeologico Nazionale (Fall 2017).

Rome: At the DAI a series of lectures on the subject of “Winckelmann as a European Reception Phenomenon” (with special focus on France, Germany and Russia) will be organized from September 2017 to June 2018 in co-operation with the Winckelmann Society and Casa di Goethe. The contributions will be published in “Pegasus”. Aditionally, an exhibition on Winckelmann’s “Monumenti antichi inediti” is planned.

The Capitoline Museums are cooperating with the DAI to create a virtual museum on “Winckelmann in Rome”, that will be accessible with an application software (app) inside the collection’s halls.

On occasion of the Winckelmann-anniversaries the Capitoline Museums are preparing an exhibition featuring the display of antiquities in the time of Winckelmann. Main sections of the exhibition will be: Archaeology at Rome during the 18th cent., Winckelmann’s Roman circle of friends (especially Cardinal Albani), The Capitoline Museums during the 18th cent., Winckelmann and the Capitoline sculptures.

In May 2016 the publishing house Studi Germanici at the research center Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici has issued a new three-volume edition of Winckelmann's Letters by Maria Fancelli und Joselita Raspi Serra. In 2017 there will be a presentation of this edition at the institute. From January 26th to 27th 2018 there will be an international conference on: „Winckelmann and the perception of art“.

In November 2017 Prof. Gabriella Catalano (Università di Roma Tor Vergata) will present Winckelmann's manuscript “Schedulae. Inscriptiones Graecae et Latinae. Romae m. Jun. 1756” that is kept at Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma. Other participants will be: Andrea De Pasquale (Director of the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale), Stefano Ferrari (Accademia Roveretana degli Agiati, Rovereto) and Paolo Poccetti (Università di Roma Tor Vergata). This presentation is taking place in cooperation with METE and Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma.

Prof. Dr. Fabrizio Cambi (Università degli Studi di Trento) is organizing a congress together with  Prof. Elena Agazzi (Università degli Studi di Bergamo), Roberta Ascarelli (Università di Siena), Gabriella Catalano (Università di Roma Tor Veragata) and Prof. Michele Cometa (Università degli Studi di Palermo) on the matter „Winckelmann und die Ästhetik der Wahrnehmung“. The congress will be held from January 26th to 27th 2018 in Villa Sciarra in Rome.

On April 7th 2017 a lecture was held at Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici with the topic “Johann Joachim Winckelmann. From story to stories: the process, the documents, the interpretations”.

The Italian association for phraseology and paremiology is presenting a lecture on “Winckelmann’s proverbs” on May 26th 2017 at Fondazione Besso.

Milan / Bergamo: The Braidense National Library of Milan and the Lombard Institute of Science and Letters are presenting an exhibition on the first Italian translation of Winckelmann’s "Geschichte der Kunst des Alterthums". The title of the exhibition will be “Winckelmann and Milan”. It will take place in the Braidense National Library of Milan from October 1st to November 11th 2017.

From April 11th to 13th 2018 Prof. Elena Agazzi (University Bergamo) will organize in cooperation with Prof. Fabrizio Slavazzi (University Milano) and the Istituto Lombardo a conference on “Winckelmann, il neoclassicismo e l’antichità in Lombardia”.

Palermo: In October 2017 Prof. Laura Auteri and Prof. Michele Cometa will organize a conference on “Winckelmann and Sicily”.
